Visitors –
Current visitor guidance is here: https://protect.purdue.edu/updates/fall-2021-visitor-guidelines/
Because of this text :
Colleges, divisions, and academic and research units who invite and host visitors are responsible for ensuring that any visitor sponsored by the unit is fully aware of and completely adheres to the Protect Purdue guidelines in place on campus at the time of their visit. Any documented non-compliance will result in cancellation of the visit.
Guidance simply says you as host are responsible for your guests and that they adhere to the guidelines: https://protect.purdue.edu/pledge/ ; you need not fill out a docusign form any longer for the visitor(s)
I’d suggest you ask they watch this before coming to campus: https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/training/covid19/onsitetraining.html
Events –
Current event guidance is here: https://protect.purdue.edu/updates/fall-2021-events-guidelines/
Because of this language in item 2 –
The sponsoring unit is fully responsible for ensuring their sponsored event is safely conducted and complies with those guidelines. Approval is at the unit leader level (Dean, Vice Provost, etc.) or their designee, and event approvers should keep records of the event approval process and attendees.
We ARE requiring the event form be filed via docusign , that form is found at the top of this page: https://webapps.krannert.purdue.edu/sites/BacktoCampus We will take a single docusign for a series of similar events.
You are required to maintain a list of attendees – not invitees – attendees. This is used for contact tracing. I regret to report we have already had some minor contact tracing this week.
Please note the requirements for off campus events are more detailed and involved than on campus events. Also, off campus events do not absolve you from Purdue meal guidance.
Meals –
There is meal guidance as part of event guidance, but there is also specific meal guidance found here: https://www.purdue.edu/ehps/rem/worker/covid19/eatinganddrinking.html
There is a misconception that we are more back to normal than guidance allows. We are still in an individual prepackaged, or served meal environment. Even for coffee, you likely want a single server handling that task – not serve yourself.
Also note from event guidance : Masks must be worn when not actively eating or drinking (in lines, while socializing, etc.). So the popular technique of holding a drink and leaving your mask off for an hour is not permitted. The operative word is “actively”.
There is no eating or drinking allowed in a classroom during a class. Individuals can eat or drink in a classroom at an event, or anytime when a class is not in session.
Facemasks are not required outdoors, and to that end, to the extent you can hold an event with food outside, you will save yourself as a host a lot of responsibility.
If you have questions or need further interpretation I am happy to try to field them – but I won’t be able to add much more than what is found at the guidance links.
