UO x B1G Case Competition
December 3–6, 2026 | Indianapolis, IN
Students interested in representing Purdue University and the Daniels School of Business at the UO x B1G Case Competition are invited to apply for the opportunity to compete against undergraduate teams from across the Big Ten in a sports-focused business case competition.
Team Formation

Students may apply individually or in pairs of two.

Students who apply as a pair will remain together throughout the selection process and, if selected, will compete on the final Purdue team together.

Purdue's final team will consist of 3–4 undergraduate students, meaning selected pairs may be combined with another pair or individual applicant(s).

Applicants should be prepared to collaborate with teammates they may not have previously worked with.

Individual applicants will be matched based on their experience, strengths, and complementary skill sets.

Students from all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Round 1: Application
Each applicant must individually submit the following materials, including students applying as a pair:
Case Competition Resume
Submit your resume with a strong emphasis on your previous case competition experience. Clearly identify:

Relevant results, placements, or awards

Other experiences that demonstrate skills applicable to case competitions
If you have limited or no previous case competition experience, you are still encouraged to apply.
Case Team Role & Strengths
Briefly describe the role you typically take on when working through a case or group project. What do you naturally gravitate toward, and where do you add the most value to a team?
Consider areas such as strategy, marketing, financial or quantitative analysis, research, presenting and Q&A, storytelling, slide design, creativity, or project management.
Additionally, identify an area where you may benefit from having a teammate with a complementary skill set.
These responses will help us understand what each applicant brings to a case team and allow us to construct a well-rounded Purdue team with complementary strengths and skill sets.
Round 2: Case Submission
Selected applicants will advance to Round 2 and receive a short case prompt.
Applicants will develop and submit a brief video response presenting their analysis and recommendation. Additional instructions and submission requirements will be provided to those selected for this round.
This round will evaluate communication, collaboration, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and presentation skills in a case competition setting.

Commitment Expectations
Students selected to represent Purdue will be required to:

Be available to travel to Indianapolis from December 3–6, 2026

Participate in scheduled coaching, preparation, and practice sessions

Be available to work with their team during the competition's 48-hour case period beginning November 30
-
Collaborate effectively with their assigned teammates
-
Meet all case submission deadlines
-
Represent Purdue University and the Daniels School of Business professionally throughout the competition
-
Students may not work on or prepare for two case competitions at the same time while representing Daniels in an external competition.
Competition Overview
The UO x B1G Case Competition brings together undergraduate teams from Big Ten universities for a sports-focused business challenge in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Teams will receive a preview introducing the general topic of the case before receiving the official case brief. Once the official case is released, teams will have 48 hours to analyze the challenge, develop their recommendations, and create their final presentation.
Teams will submit their presentations before traveling to Indianapolis and arrive prepared to present their recommendations to a panel of judges.
The competition will begin with preliminary pool play consisting of three randomly assigned groups of four teams. One team from each pool will advance to the final round.
Beyond the competition, participants will have opportunities to connect with sports business leaders, gain a behind-the-scenes look at Big Ten Championship operations, tour Lucas Oil Stadium, attend Fan Fest, and participate in additional sports-industry programming.
